Collection of 2 quarters to play Bingo with
winner receiving ˝ of pot raised was changed.
New system was to collect $1 per member per week
with the winner of Bingo drawing from a deck of

queen was NOT drawn there was no pay out. Half
of the funds raised went to the club, and half

to demonstrate their uniqueness among all
applicants. Such a change may be designed around the
4-Way Test.
Youth Committee (Northrup) – After extension
research into the Rotary Youth Exchange Program,
this committee recommended participation by our
club. The board approved and budgeted $2500 for the
program. The Pierre School Board approved
participation at their level. The first YSE student
will come to Pierre in the Fall of 2006.
Community Service (Barden, director)

Pierre Rotary made contributions to the following
organizations during 2005-06:
SD Make-A-Wish Foundation, Pierre-Fort Pierre Jr.
Achievement, CHAP, Oahe Red Cross (local plus
Katrina flood relief, included individual
contributions), Oahe Inc. (Included individual
contributions and matched by Rotary District 5610

The committee organized Rotary’s annual hosting of
The Banquet in May of 2006.
Committee recommends developing a club website and
has members willing to assist in this effort.
Foundation (Evenstad) – The board requested a vote
of the club to determine the membership’s wishes
regarding the foundation. The club was voted
strongly to continue to grow the foundation to a
principal of $100,000, and to limit spending to

In order to show the activity within the foundation,
the board has directed the Oahe Foundation to send
quarterly interest checks to the Club treasurer. The
treasurer will be responsible for cutting all checks
including those for scholarships. Any remaining
foundation funds at the end of each year will be
deposited into the foundation as principal.
Fundraising
Booth Projects
(Weber) – The booth project raised _________ during
2005-06. This is slightly over budget expectations.
The board has recommended additional marketing of
the project to potential Ramkota convention planners
and to other meeting sites such as King’s Inn and
any potential new site in Fort Pierre.
Keyboard Project (Lygstad) – This project
raised _________ during 2005-06. This is over budget
expectations.
International Service (Rohlf, director)
International Project
(Quinn) – After a presentation to the entire club on
the St. Jude School in Tanzania, Africa received
positive response, the committee recommended that
the board approve a $350 sponsorship for the school.
The club additionally recommended that the Club seek
to multiply this contribution through the Rotary
International grant system. The board strongly
agreed with this. As this grant requires partnership
with a Rotary Club outside the country, the board
voted to carry-over the $350 to the 2006-07 budget
to allow time to establish the necessary
partnerships.
The committee considered a second-hand clothing
contribution program, however, decided against this
project.
Group Study Exchange (Schroyer) – The
committee worked to recruit a participant in the
District’s exchange to India. The club’s potential
applicant found conflicts, and, in the end, decided
not to apply.
The committee coordinated the hosting of a Rotary
Friendship Exchange group from France.
Year-end Awards
2005-06 Rotarian of
the Year Award was presented to Jim Mollision.
Jim is an example of a complete Rotarian. He is
extremely active in local club projects. In 2006 he
initiated and led the club’s volunteer efforts for
the Cabela’s Fishing Tournament. Jim often provides
significant financial contributions to local Rotary
projects. Jim takes his role as a district assistant
governor seriously, visiting central SD clubs and
seeking to build relationships among clubs by taking
other Pierre members on these visits. Jim attended
the Rotary International Convention in Chicago. He
and his wife are Paul Harris Fellows.
2005-06 Spirit of Community Award was presented
to Ellen Lee for her leadership of the Community
Development Committee, for organizing Rotary’s
